The 508 Group consists of a consortium of web professionals who specialize in developing websites that are fully accessible to the blind and disabled. As technology continues to provide options for the disabled, web accessibility becomes more important each day.

The 508 Group gets its name from Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, which Congress amended in 1998 to require Federal agencies to make their electronic and information technology accessible to people with disabilities. The 508 Group is committed to making the web accessible, one website at a time, using W3C compliant coding strategies (XHTML/CSS), its broad experience with assistive technology (screenreaders, braille displays, speech input, etc.), and consideration for how the disabled use technology.

The 508 Group is developing a distinctive profile within the industry as an organization that can provide a full range of services to clients who wish to address the need to be accessible to those with a disability.

Alongside site design and development, The 508 Group provides a range of services including site accessibility audits, accessible web development training and education, custom and accessible blog and wiki template creation, and web site migration planning and strategy.
